A “Work Village”, UNESCO heritage site

In the Province of Bergamo, (Lombardy),  between the Adda and the Brembo rivers, stands the village, built at the end of the nineteenth century by a family of local entrepreneurs, with the aim to create an "ideal work village" where to host the working families employed in the nearby textiles factory owned by them. The village was  a real town complete with all services: in addition to houses for workers and managers, there were schools, a hospital, a church, recreational places and a cooperative shop where you could buy food. Today the village is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as an example of the "best preserved workers' village in southern Europe".
